The Programme for Government just published by Fine Gael and the Labour Party includes a number of commitments aimed at strengthening corporate governance. The measures include legislation to provide for a binding code of practice, greater accountability and openness, a Whistleblowers act and the scrapping of boards in cases where it would be more appropriate for managers to report directly to Ministers and Departments.
