Codes Of Conduct for State Bodies

The Code of Practice for the Governance of State Bodies requires all these bodies to prepare a written code of business conduct for their organisation. Typically a code of Conduct includes the establishment of an agreed set of ethical principles and has the objective to promote confidence and trust.

The Code of Practice states that the requirements of the Companies Acts which relate to the behaviour of directors should be implemented in the case of those State bodies, which are statutory boards, even when their legislation does not reflect these requirements.

A Framework for a Code of Business Conduct based on the Department of Finance Guidelines can be downloaded below.

The Board, taking into account the Ethics in Public Office Acts, should approve the Code of Conduct.
